The tour, titled The Listening Sessions, is set to begin in the state of Florida next month and will travel through cities such as Atlanta, Houston, Chicago, New York, Phoenix, and Los Angeles. Tickets for the first four shows sold out in less than an hour, prompting promoter Live Nation to consider adding additional dates.
“I’m so excited to finally be able to sing my songs live for all of you,” Ariana said during the video. “Some of these songs are part of my debut album, and I’ve worked really hard to make each show special.”
According to sources close to the artist, the tour will feature unreleased versions of songs that will be included on the album Yours Truly, as well as live renditions of tracks already known to the public, such as Put Your Hearts Up and Honeymoon Avenue. Ariana also revealed that there will be more intimate piano moments, highlighting the vocal and emotional side of the songs.
Several music critics praised the singer’s decision to embark on a tour in mid-sized venues, considering this close connection with the audience essential for building a solid fan base. Billboard magazine described the initiative as “a smart and authentic choice for an artist who is just at the beginning of her career but already shows great maturity.”
On social media, fans reacted immediately to the announcement. The hashtag #ListeningSessionsTour became a worldwide trending topic on Twitter just hours after the video was posted. Many fans stated that they would travel from other states to attend the concerts and encouraged the singer to take the tour outside the United States.
For now, Ariana confirmed that the dates are limited to the U.S., but she left an optimistic message for international fans: “I promise this is just the first step—I really want to bring this tour to other countries soon.”
With the release of the album Yours Truly scheduled for late summer and growing public anticipation, all signs indicate that 2013 will be a defining year in the early stages of Ariana Grande’s music career.
