Today, August 30, 2013, Ariana Grande widely known to the public for her role in the TV series Victorious has proven that her talent goes far beyond acting. The 20-year-old artist has released her highly anticipated debut album, Yours Truly, and the results could not be more positive.
Working with renowned producers such as Babyface, Harmony Samuels, and The Rascals, the album delivers a balanced fusion of contemporary pop and ’90s R&B influences a style many critics consider to be Ariana’s defining signature.
The lead single, “The Way” (featuring Mac Miller), had already hinted at the success to come. The track resonated strongly with audiences, debuting in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 and accumulating millions of streams across digital platforms.
In an interview with Z100 radio, Ariana revealed that many of the songs on the album were inspired by personal experiences:
“I wanted this album to be real and for people to feel who I am when they listen to it.”
Among the standout tracks are “Baby I,” “Tattooed Heart,” and “Right There,” the latter featuring rapper Big Sean. Fans around the world celebrated the release using hashtags like #YoursTruly and #ProudOfAriana, which trended on Twitter throughout the day. According to Republic Records, the album received pre-orders in more than 50 countries, including Portugal.
The singer also announced that she will begin a series of promotional performances in the coming weeks, with appearances scheduled on shows such as the Today Show and The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
With the album’s immediate success, many industry experts are already pointing to Ariana as a potential contender for major Grammy categories in the following year.
“This is just the beginning,” Ariana stated during the album launch event in New York.
If the success of Yours Truly is any indication, the pop music world may be witnessing the rise of a brand-new star.
